Capital J: Start at the midline on the left and curve up to the top line. Slant down past the baseline, loop to the left at the descender line, and come back up to the baseline to join the next letter. Lowercase j: Start at the baseline and swing up to the midline. Pull straight down to the descender line, loop to the left, and come back up to the baseline. Lift your pencil and add the dot.

Tip: The loop of j goes to the left and closes at the baseline. Do not forget the dot.
Joining: Lowercase j ends with the swing up from its bottom loop, crossing at the baseline. Like i, the dot can wait until the word is finished.
